THE ARBURY JACK GUILLEBEAUX LEGACY AWARD recognizes an Innisfree team member who models behaviors that cultivate environments where every single person feels as though they matter.
“Jack,” the founding Director of Culture for Innisfree Hotels, served in his role for over twenty years. He was a pivotal architect of Innisfree’s “different kind of culture,” alongside his wife Farzaneh, an accomplished psychologist fondly known by friends as “Fafar,” and Innisfree founders and owners Julian and Kim MacQueen. Guided by their Bahai faith, a faith that emphasizes the oneness of God and the unity of humanity, they developed the ideology of the culture of Innisfree Hotels. An ideology that has guided Innisfree for the past forty years and continues today.
Before his work with Innisfree, Jack worked for the Federation of Child Care Centers in Alabama (FOCAL) and wrote and published his book, “More is Caught than Taught.” Through his work with VISIONS Inc. and his own company called Connectors, Jack served as a group facilitator working with corporations from Tennessee to the United Kingdom to help bring awareness and understanding of differences and how to utilize those differences in positive ways. A highlight of his life was the work he and Fafar did conducting communication skills workshops for international volunteer staff at the Baha’i World Center in Haifa, Israel. A self-made man of noble character with amazing skills and talents, what proved exceptional about Jack was his innate capacity to see the humanity in others.
He believed strongly in the power of love. He inspired others to see our responsibility to one another and put love into action. He exuded patience, understanding, and care. What further made him remarkable was his natural ability to reach straight into the heart of another human being, fill them with a warmth and staying power that brought them into more powerful patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. He created lasting change just by being himself, leaving behind a profound legacy of truth-speaking, leadership, courage, and love. His belief in the future of mankind, his tireless efforts to create a more just society, and his willingness to “be comfortable with the uncomfortable” spoke to the strength of his commitment to build an inclusive world. It is in this spirit of determination, persistence, and love that Innisfree establishes the A. (Arbury) Jack Guillebeaux Legacy Award.
